The Secret Garden has become the newest film to be postponed amid coronavirus fears.
The remake of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic 1911 novel had been due for release on April 3, but will now begin on August 14.
The Secret Garden Release Date
Studio Canal released a press release, saying: “As a movie that appeals so strongly to a family and older audience, we’ve taken the choice to maneuver out of a potentially high-risk period because the coronavirus situation continues to escalate.
“We want the most important possible audience to get our beautiful film in due course.”
The film follows the likes of Fast and Furious 9, Mulan, A Quiet Place 2, and No Time To Die in postponing due to fears over the pandemic.
The Secret Garden, last updated in 1993 for the screen by Agnieszka Holland, described the story of a young orphan named Mary Lennox who discovers a magical, hidden garden when she is moved to her uncle’s manor in Yorkshire after the death of her parents.
The new film stars the likes of Colin Firth and Dame Julie Walters, with Dixie Egerickx taking over the role of Mary.
